Hmm, I can’t make it work. I’ve followed the instructions. But, when I try to change the WordPress URL (to redirect Google, etc.), it hoses my WordPress installation.

Also, when I go to the static site many of the links don’t work. They seem to be PHP links, not static HTML links.

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

Is it possible to have the wordpress website on my localhost (xampp)? and then have this plugin send the html files to the real host or must I have the wordpress installed on the same host to make it work? I’ve tried it, but it doesn’t seem to work for me. I have a feeling I’m writing writing the remote path wrong…

are your FTP settings and the path correct?
if you create a log.html file inside the really-static plugin case and set chmod to 777 you will see whats happening.

Erik and I worked it out. When installing to a subfolder, wordpress.yourwebsite.com for example, you need to update the settings>general section to show…
    WordPress address (URL): http://wordpress.yourwebsite.com
    Blog address (URL): http://www.yourwebsite.com

In addition, update the Really Static Settings page to include the new subdomain name.

In my case I also needed to set the Really Static Settings “internal filepath” to /public_html/

    Thanks Erik!

    Hi, Erik!
I use “Really static” and it’s very cool thing, but I have 2 problems with it:
    1. In my wordpress I use standard tipe of URLs with “?”, so in plugin’s settings I have to choose option “I want that Really-Static try to handle with the ? in the url”.
By this way all site’s links are changing by plugin into form without “?” and everithing works correktly.
In the same time links inside posts are changing too. And if I have some specific link in my posts with “?” which have to be not changed, I must to change them back manually in .html files after they are made.

    2. As it is mentioned above, all links in static site are loosing “?”. But, I use also XML-Sitemap plugin, which contines to generate sitemap file with “?” in links. So I have to change this file every time too.

Please, advise how avoid these problems.

    Thanks for plugin.

There is a problem. If a post with a few pages (with ), it generates only the first page.

    What should I do?

@Serg please post your siteurl so I can look after what you mean

    #36 Comment vom 28. Juli 2009 um 08:48

  37. Serg

Frank, when the post contains (without spaces), this post is divided into few pages. For example, if the page is located at http://someurl.com/arcticle_155, then the second page is located at http://someurl.com/arcticle_155/2. When you generate a page using “really static” – is created only the first page http://someurl.com/arcticle_155, and the second is not created.

I would say that when the post contains command <!–nextpage–> (< – opening parenthesis, > – closing parenthesis). “nextpage” – is standard command in WordPress

    hello friend

    great creation this plugin

only one problem in my wordpress blog tags are not displayed or the categories to visitors, so do not really need to spend hours creating Estatic is the html tags, sub pages, categories, etc … It would be possible to get the plugin that only makes the post html?

thank you very much, you’re a genius

    #47 Comment vom 09. Oktober 2009 um 10:16

  48. Kikukuan

    hello again:)

My blogs have thousands of post (5000 or some 10,000). The plugin takes 14 hours to write html, and still has not made 10% of the html blog … because of having to write the tags, categories, pages, sub pages …

But I insist, that in my blog, do not show the tags, do not use them.

Another problem: The writing is interrupted constantly (every 30 minutes) and I need to manually write tell. With small blogs, this does not happen. But with thousands of post, the plugin stopped writing constantly

I want to talk to you privately, I am willing to pay or make a generous donation. I need the plugin only write html from the post. No tags, no categories, no sub pages, etccc. Only post

thanks!!, and sorry for very English, Spanish i’am :)

Hi Erik, first of all – great idea.
Basically it works, but i have small problems.
Maybe i missed something. For example the thickbox or jQuery.js from wp-includes (or other js from other plugins) it still search in the main wp installation.
    Any advice for this?

  52. Erik

    @Tom, what version do you use? Allready 0.3 ( http://blog.phpwelt.net/187-really-static-0-3-wordpress-plugin.html ) ?
if it so, please goto settings->really-static->settings and add .js to the filetypes that also should made static
hope, this works. If not, goto settings->really-static->advanced and follow the inststruction to make jQuery.js every time static when a post is published

I just installed Really Static (using WP 2.9). I have WP installed on the same server as my static site. All works fine except that the WordPress theme css files and theme images are not getting copied over to the static site.

Do I need to copy the theme files manually?

I get this error when I try to refresh manually:

    “writing: http://www.thecelebrityworkout.com/2010/02/drew-barrymore-dropped-weightand-kept-it-off/
    FOLDER ERROR”

I’m sure that I am using one of the settings incorrectly… These are the settings I am using:

    SOURCE:
    http://www.thecelebrityworkout.com/ (url to WP install)
http://www.thecelebrityworkout.com/wp-content/themes/S2/ (url to actual used template folder)

    DESTINATION:
work with local file system: /htdocs/blog/ [I've also used "/"]
    http://www.thecelebrityworkout.com/ (domainprefix for cached files)
http://www.thecelebrityworkout.com/design/ (url to the template folder????)

    GENERAL SETTINGS:
    http://www.thecelebrityworkout.com/ (WP address URL)
    http://www.thecelebrityworkout.com/ (Blog address URL)

for your information, the blog is on the /htdocs/blog folder, but I have it pointing on the server to be root so that it’s thecelebrityworkout.com/ instead of thecelebrityworkout.com/blog/

I can’t figure out the proper settings. I can get it to create the folders, and 0k index.html files inside. Can someone walk me through what to change my settings to?

My wordpress installation is located in
    http://mysite.com/new/

I want the static files to load at
    http://mysite.com/

The theme I’m using is in “http://mysite.com/new/wp-content/themes/my_theme/”

I have permalinks turned on as %postname%

Under my WP General Settings, my WordPress address is set as “http://mysite.com/new”
and my Blog is set as “http://mysite.com”

My current ReallyStatic Settings are as follows:

    Source
    url to wp installation
    “http://mysite.com/new/”
url path to the actual used templatefolder
    “http://mysite.com/new/wp-content/themes/MixMed_theme/”

    Destination
    Domainprefix
    “http://mysite.com/”
    url to templatefolder
    “http://mysite.com/new/wp-content/themes/MixMed_theme/”

    Settings
First 3 boxes are unchecked, the rest art checked.

    Anyone know what’s wrong?

    Hello Erik,

Your plugin works very well on typical sites! It is really brilliant solutions. Good job man!

I have a little problem with a standard password protect sites (.htaccess + .htpasswd), because plugin generates in the /right-place-folder/index.html content “401 error” only.

Of course, without the above Apache password protection, the plugin works fine on the same sites.

    Danke und Tschüss!
